It depends on how you use your ute. Aluminium canopies are lighter, naturally rust-proof, and ideal if you do a lot of kilometres, live near the coast, or want to reduce the load on your ute. Steel canopies are heavier but extremely strong under serious loads and generally come in at a lower price point, making them popular with tradies who prioritise toughness. If you're unsure, contact us and we'll help you decide based on your vehicle and use case.
Once your order ships, you'll receive a tracking number via email. You can use this to track your package.
For tradies, we recommend either our standard aluminium ute canopy or our fully welded steel canopy. Both offer excellent storage, durability, and easy access to tools and equipment. If weight saving matters, go aluminium. If you're carrying very heavy loads daily, steel is worth considering.
The standard aluminium ute canopy is our most versatile option, offering full height storage suitable for work and touring. The low profile 4x4 canopy sits lower on the tub, making it garage-friendly and more aerodynamic on the highway without sacrificing usable space. The fully welded canopy uses continuous weld construction rather than riveted joins, giving you a stronger and more rigid build best suited to heavy loads and serious off-road conditions.

Weatherproofing & durability
Our canopies are designed to be highly dust resistant with sealed door seals and tight panel joins. No canopy can be guaranteed 100% dust proof under all conditions, particularly on corrugated outback tracks, but ours perform well in typical Australian off-road environments. If you're regularly in extreme dust conditions, get in touch and we can discuss additional sealing options.
Yes. Aluminium does not rust, which makes it the preferred material for anyone in coastal areas, wet climates, or environments where the canopy is regularly exposed to moisture. Our canopies are also powdercoated for additional surface protection and long-term finish durability.

Shipping & delivery
Lead time is typically 9-12 weeks from order confirmation. Each canopy is built to order based on your ute's tray dimensions and your chosen configuration.

All canopies are carefully packaged to protect the finish and structure during transit. We use reinforced packaging designed to handle the size and weight of each unit safely.
Yes. Collection is available from our warehouse at 8 Daniel St, Wetherill Park NSW 2164 by appointment.
If your canopy arrives damaged, contact us immediately at info@customcanopies.com.au with photos of the damage. We'll assess the situation and work with you to resolve it as quickly as possible.

Canopy warranty
All Custom Canopies products come with a 1 year warranty covering manufacturer defects on all parts. If you experience an issue, simply send a photo and a description of the problem to info@customcanopies.com.au and we'll arrange a replacement part to be sent to you. Please note that scratches and wear from daily use are not covered under warranty.
